I have to disagree, Rebecca. In a world where one's neighbor has the gall to risk ruining the dress that the master of the house brought home for her, maybe the caller should just stay at home dusting and put up more wallpaper, acting as a fine example for her more brutish neighbors so that perhaps in the future they'll leave male tasks like tree-trimming to the men. Especially with the caller being pregnant and too busy washing dishes by hand, barefoot in the kitchen, I doubt her husband would stand for the insult of her getting a job.
Okay, okay, so I may be laying it on rather thick, perhaps well beyond what the story warranted. Couldn't resist. *smile* Fun story, Beth.
